Strong fundamentals support peso – DoF

DESPITE the Philippine peso taking a beating against the US dollar on Friday, the Department of Finance (DoF) said strong macroeconomic fundamentals continue to support the currency.

'Strong macroeconomic fundamentals continue to support the peso despite external headwinds from tighter monetary policy actions by the US Federal Reserve and inflationary pressures from heightened global fuel prices,' it said in a weekend economic bulletin.
