COTABATO CITY: The Bangsamoro Transition Authority's (BTA) Committee on Trade, Investment, and Tourism (CTIT) is seeking feedback from various stakeholders in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, as it begins holding public consultations for the five proposed legislative measures including the revival of the Barter Trade System.
Member of Parliament (MP) Amilbahar Mawallil, main author of BTA Bill 85 (Barter Trade Act of 2021), on Wednesday explained that the Bangsamoro region developed into a major barter trading site long before the arrival of the Spaniards, with the Tausug establishing ties with their Southeast Asian neighbors as well as Chinese and European traders.
