A consumer group denounced on Thursday the new rate increase to be imposed by the local electricity supply arm of Meralco, saying it is anti-poor and a burden to small businesses.
United Filipino Consumers and Commuters (UFCC) president RJ Javellana said in a statement that MPower's move to adjust its rate will not only cause suffering for its direct clients who are still reeling from the economic impact of the pandemic but it will trickle down to wage earners.
