Bland, ordinary men now leading and lifting major democracies

SUNDAY STORIES

NOT too long ago, the right-wing fantasy was that a white, muscular Christian world really existed. It was led by Russia's Vladimir Putin, with his fanboy Donald Trump as his fawning sidekick and principal gofer. The third figure in that leadership trinity was Viktor Orban of Hungary, the other authoritarian leader Trump admires. In that fantasy world, people who were not white and Christian and strong (people of color, people in the LGBT categories, people of non-Christian religions) were regarded as members of despicable sub-strata 'the others' — or inferior people who deserved the treatment of India's 'Dalits.' Massacring blacks on the unhinged pretext that they can't be allowed to replace whites has been routine under this bizarre concept of a white Christian world.
