OCTA sees 'weak' Covid surge

(UPDATED) The OCTA Research group on Tuesday said that it sees a possible 'weak surge' in Covid-19 cases as the reproduction number in the National Capital Region (NCR) increased to 1.05 on May 20.

Dr. Guido David, its senior research fellow, said that with the increase of the reproduction number, there is a possibility of a 'weak surge' of around 2,000 to 3,000 cases nationwide as the 'worst case scenario.' The last time the reproduction number increased to more than 1 was on July 15 and Dec. 24, 2021, during the start of the Delta and Omicron surges, respectively.
