'Constitutional crisis' looms over Marcos DQ case in SC -- ex-Duterte lawyer

WITH Congress set to officially proclaim Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio as the duly elected President and Vice President, respectively, within the week, one question remains on which should prevail: The people's will or the will of the law?

For lawyer Salvador Panelo, former chief legal counsel of President Rodrigo Duterte, 'a looming constitutional crisis is in the offing' following the case filed by some detractors of the President-elect before the Supreme Court (SC) questioning the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc to dismiss disqualification cases filed against Marcos and asking it to stop the canvassing of Congress pending the resolution of their petition to cancel the incoming leader's certificate of candidacy (CoC).
