WHEN Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) decided to expand its recently built new plant in Hsinchu county, Taiwan, the world's largest independent semiconductor foundry began looking for pump solutions that could be installed quickly and leave minimal carbon footprint. The plant expansion would enable the company to fill up an impending shortage of chips for many companies like AMD, Apple and Nvidia, to name a few.

The team at Armstrong, together with its Taiwan distributor, met with TSMC to discuss and ensure that the proposed solutions addressed stringent requirements that included pre-selection configurations, pump specifications, and technical drawings. Armstrong's final proposal comprises 64 units of 4300 vertical in-line (VIL pumps) within the range of 100 to 400 HP to meet TSMC's HVAC plant expansion needs.
