'Peaceful' voting in Central Visayas

Everything is 'generally peaceful' in the conduct of national and local elections in Central Visayas. This is according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas. The calm conduct of the elections was marred only by the shooting incident in San Fernando and Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu.

Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of PRO-Central Visayas, said they have not recorded any election-related violent incident as of 11:30 a.m. today. His statement is based on a report from the Regional Election Monitoring Action Center (Remac).

National and local elections in Central Visayas are peaceful as of noon of May 9. The issue of delayed machines has been solved, and the two cases of shooting were not election-related. The authorities have appealed for patience, since the lines of voters are very long, and Central Visayas is sweltering today. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
