How could they lose? Ball is round? Ateneo has the best import in town. UP has the second best. Imports win the UAAP crown. That's all there is to it. Remember La Salle' s Ymballa and the golden years he gave the Taft five? Yet, it's UP's heart that won the game. We salute them. Instead of playing for the Blue Eagles, we're all lucky the shifty Dwight Ramos decided to play in Japan, which required less protocols for professional ball and more galleries to entertain. Or else Ateneo would have won the last two years too until rudely interrupted by the catastrophic pandemic. Plus this year. Only UP stands in the way of Ateneo. They have the better import, recruitment program getting Ildefonso from NU and Belangel from Tay Tung Bacolod, et al. Yet, UP spoiled the party. And Congress made sure Kouame would get his naturalization in time for the UAAP and Gilas. But after being slaughtered by New Zealand by 25 pts. in our own turf in the last FIBA qualifying, guess SBP will now have to think twice before he dons the National uniform again. Still quite raw. Thanks to UP they have added color to this years ultimate challenge. And to former Green Archer Richie Rivero for playing his best game this season for the Diliman spoilers.
