A new low pressure area (LPA) was spotted off Palawan but has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday.

In an 11 a.m. advisory, Pagasa said the weather disturbance was last seen around 10 a.m. some 335 kilometers south-southwest of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
