EastWest upbeat on 2022 net income

LISTED East West Banking Corp. (EastWest) is optimistic its net earnings this year will be similar to those in 2021, as it expects the country's economic recovery to benefit the banking industry.

'Our income guidance is that we will be close to 2021 levels. We'll start slow in the first quarter because we still have the spillover of 2021. Then we'll start getting the results of our efforts... in the second half,' Tony Moncupa, EastWest president and chief executive officer, said during a virtual press briefing on Friday.
