Duterte vetoes SIM card registration bill

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has vetoed a proposed law requiring the registration of all SIM cards and social media accounts.

In a statement Friday, acting Palace spokesman and Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said the consolidated Senate Bill 2395/House Bill 5793, designed to deter electronic communication-aided crimes, 'needs a more thorough study.'
