THE Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) approved more national government foreign borrowings in the first quarter of this year.

The central bank reported in a statement on Wednesday that monetary authorities approved $4.80 billion in foreign borrowings by the government from January to March of this year. The new amount is a 69-percent increase over the $2.84 billion green-lighted in the first quarter of 2021.
