THE Philippines and Japan held their first foreign and defense ministerial meeting on April 9 to deepen their security and defense cooperation in the next 10 years.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the meeting, establishing the "2+2 talks" held in Tokyo, was "a significant milestone" in the decade-old strategic partnership between Manila and Japan.
