SEVERAL maritime cadetship programs have been established by foreign shipowners and ship managers here in the Philippines for more than a decade.

With the goal of training internationally qualified seafarers to man millions of dollars' worth of ships, various cadetship programs have been established across the country giving young, underprivileged Filipinos the opportunity for a stable and rewarding career at sea.
