On March 30, 2022, Philippine time, my Lola Lydia (Lydia Murillo Bonifacio or Pastora Lydia to those who have known her) moved on from this life to be with Jesus for eternity. Writing this is difficult mainly because for my own personal reasons, I have lost touch with her and other extended family members, and second of all, growing up, I've always felt that Lola Lyd (along with Lolo Bojie) belonged to her core family: Ninong Jojo, his kids, Rica, Joseph, and Janina, Tita Swe and her kids, Powie and Ate Pam, and Tita Arlene and her kids, Israel, Paolo, and Miguel.
Lola Lyd belonged to the triumvirate of grandmothers we grew up with, my very own Mamang Myrna and their other sister, Lola Baby. My mother's entire family structure was built on these three strong women who all had a part to play and we all loved them equally and with reverence.
