Cebu-based thrift bank closed down

THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has closed and placed under the receivership of Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC), a thrift bank in Cebu.

The PDIC said in a weekend circular that the central bank's Monetary Board has ordered the liquidation of Metro-Cebu Public Savings Bank in a decision dated March 31.
