ACCORDING to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the civilian death toll in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict from Feb. 24 to March 15, 2022, is 726 people, including 52 children. Of course, one death is far too many, but considering the magnitude of this conflict, this number could have been higher than what it is. The same office reported (during the same period) that about 3.1 million refugees fled Ukraine into neighboring countries, with Poland absorbing almost 2 million of them.

The human cost of this conflict is enormous.
