A magnitude 5 earthquake hit Surigao del Norte on Friday, according to the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs).
Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum Jr. told The Manila Times that the tremor took place at 9:35 a.m. some 60 kilometers northeast of the town of General Luna.
