DAVAO CITY: A high-ranking leader of the New People's Army (NPA) and two other communist rebels were killed in a series of encounters at Barangay Tupaz, Maragusan, Davao de Oro on Sunday morning, March 27.
In its report on Tuesday, the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division (10ID) based in Mawab, Davao de Oro said the two successive armed encounters resulted in the killing of Ezequiel Cortez Daguman alias Rey, central committee member of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP). He was also the deputy secretary and head of the intelligence operations of the NPA's regional operations command and southern Mindanao regional command.
