End-Feb PH debt reaches new high

THE national government's debt had reached a new all-time high of P12.09 trillion as of the end of February this year, according to figures released by the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) on Thursday.

The BTr said the outstanding debt increased by 0.5 percent, or P63.82 billion, from the end of January's P12.02 trillion, 'due to currency fluctuations and net financing from both local and external sources.'
