SC rejects mining firm's tax refund claim

THE Supreme Court has rejected Taganito Mining Corp.'s (TMC) claim for refund of excess input value added tax (VAT) paid on domestic purchases of taxable goods and services and importation of goods worth more than P42 million in 2008.

In a 24-page decision penned by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, the high tribunal's First Division denied the petitions for review of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and TMC for lack of merit.
