Brokers, truckers seek moratorium on bidding of PPA new monitoring system

THE Alliance of Philippine Customs Brokers and Trucking Associations has sought a moratorium on the bidding of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA)'s procurement of a trusted operator program container registration monitoring system (TOP-CRMS) and empty container storage shared facility design specifications and implementation.

The alliance is composed of the Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines, headed by its president Mary Zapata; Inland Haulers and Trucking Association (INHTA), headed by its president Teodorico Gervacio; Haulers and Truckers Association in the Watersouth Inc., with its president Don Manebo, and Professional Customs Brokers Association of the Philippines Inc., led by its chairman Reynaldo Soliman.

The container tracking system will enable the PPA to digitally tag all inbound shipping containers with a tracking device, giving full visibility of the utilization, movement and location of every foreign-owned container. TMT FILE PHOTO
