The exciting future of Philippine Regional Cinema

Notes from the Chair

Earlier this month, I got the chance to visit the FDCP Cinematheque Theater in Davao and in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. It was in 2016 when I first visited the Cinematheque in Davao City and initial plans of renovating the venue were initially drawn but it took a long time to find the time and funding to do it. Then the pandemic happened. Our physical cinematheques got shut down, and we had no choice but to recalibrate our plans and programs for the industry.

But while the closure of the cinemas was a big blow, Team FDCP took advantage of this time to renovate, upgrade, and ready our Cinematheques so we can prepare to welcome our audiences again at our physical screening and event spaces.
