ZAMBOANGA CITY: Army soldiers clashed with a band of Abu Sayyaf fighters in the southern Philippine province of Sulu on Saturday.
Military officials said members of the 41st Infantry Battalion tracked down and engaged the pro-Islamic State (IS) militants in a gun battle in the village of Bungkaong in Patikul town, one of the few remaining strongholds of the Abu Sayyaf.
