THE Philippine Association of Feed Millers Inc. (Pafmi) called on the government to consider its proposal to temporarily bring down to a uniform 5 percent the tariff on all corn imports, amid the tight supply of corn in the Asean region.
The group's call came after the economic team proposed measures on the immediate reduction of the corn tariff to 5 percent for in-quota imports under the minimum access volume scheme from 35 percent, and to 15 percent for out-quota imports.
