Mayor to appeal 'rape' charges

THE camp of Cavite City Mayor Bernardo Paredes is set to file an appeal via a petition for review before the Department of Justice (DoJ) in connection with a resolution of the Office of the City Prosecutor of Mandaluyong indicting him for allegedly making sexual advances to a minor in 2017.

Paredes was originally charged with rape, but was downgraded by the prosecution to sexual abuse and lascivious conduct.
