Filipinos not ready for federalism – Duterte

MONTHS before leaving office, President Rodrigo Duterte has conceded that the shift to a federal system of government might not happen under his watch, admitting that it was not accepted by the Filipino people.

In a taped one-on-one interview with Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar aired on Friday, Duterte said he communicated with local executives on shifting to federalism but admitted that Filipinos are 'not ready' for it.
