THE Alaska Aces leaving Asia's first play-for-pay league is sad, but it's not the last time a beloved franchise will make its exit in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

The nearly 47-year history of the PBA is strewn with the carcasses of treasured teams like Crispa, Toyota, Tanduay, Great Taste, Shell, RFM (Swift, Pop Cola, Sunkist), UTex, Coca-Cola, Sta. Lucia and Red Bull.
