THE United States' recently-released Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) raised the importance of "a free and open" Indo-Pacific in maintaining economic stability and peaceful atmosphere in the region.

The US Embassy in the Philippines said Washington will pursue an Indo-Pacific region that is "free and open, connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient."
