PHILIPPINE National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Bernardo Carlos on Tuesday said that the police foiled attempts by a foreign terrorist organization to wage a "proxy war" in the country by recruiting Filipino affiliates who will carry out terrorist activities against Western and Middle Eastern nationals in the Philippines.
Carlos cited the report of Intelligence Group Director BGen. Neil Alinsangan that the conspiracy was revealed by a local contact of "Hamas," a Middle East-based and a radical Islamic terrorist organization that played a major role in carrying out terror plots against Israelis and Arabs.
