Experts see need for water security strategy

THE Philippines needs climate-resilient water management and practices to also cushion effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the Liveable Cities Lab's 'Climate-Resilient Water Management' online forum on Wednesday, Alastair Totty, deputy ambassador of British Embassy Manila, cited a report by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) that says 1.5 billion people in rural areas and 600 million in urban areas globally still lack adequate water supply and sanitation. 'Developing countries like the Philippines face serious water constraints and yet insufficiently protected against water disasters and diseases,' he said.
