Mahatma Gandhi once said that 'the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.' This could well describe the life of Alex Chiu.

For 33 years, until 2018, Mr. Chiu was City Councilor of Markham City, Toronto, Canada - the longest-serving member of that body. In his more than three decades of public service in Markham, he consistently advanced the causes and interests of Filipinos and other migrants in the area.
