RECENT bank hacking incidents have prompted the Finance department to call for tighter cybersecurity measures at the Internal Revenue (BIR) and Customs (BoC) bureaus.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez 3rd, who issued the directive during a recent executive committee meeting, cited the unauthorized bank transfers that hit at least 700 BDO Unibank clients last December and complaints this month by teachers that they had lost money from accounts in Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank).
