Breaking the stigma of 'utang'

THE ideas of 'credit' and 'debt' are so intertwined in Filipino culture that the most common language of the country has a single word for both, 'utang.' Clarifying the notion that credit and debt mean the same thing and most importantly, breaking the stigma associated with accessing credit and incurring debt are important objectives in the campaign to improve Filipinos' financial literacy.
