SENATE candidate and retired police general Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar called for the strict implementation of health protocols in the provinces due to the surge of Covid-19 cases, even as the government suspended the risk classification for inbound foreign travelers.

Eleazar, who is gunning for a senate seat under the Reform Party, expressed belief that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) made a science-based decision when it suspended the risk classification for incoming travelers, but he cautioned that the rise of infections in the provinces could offset the gains in Metro Manila.
