1 rebel killed, 5 firearms seized in Lanao clash

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: State forces killed a suspected communist rebel and seized five high-powered firearms during a hot pursuit against 30 armed men believed to be members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Lanao del Sur, the military said Wednesday.

Maj. Francisco Garello Jr. of the Army's Public Affairs Office in Camp Evangelista, identified the fatality as alias Rasty, Hasel or Ade. His weapon, a general purpose machine gun, was also retrieved by government troops.
