Robredo: China must recognize arbitral rule first before any joint exploration deal

VICE President Maria Leonor 'Leni' Robredo said on Friday that before the Philippines could engage in any joint venture or forge an agreement with China, it must first acknowledge the arbitral ruling that recognizes the country's sovereign rights in the disputed territories in the South China Sea.

Robredo was responding to a question during a forum entitled 'Meet the Presidentiables: Economic Reforms in the New Frontier' on whether she was open to negotiating for a joint exploration arrangement with Beijing.
