THE reported hacking of the servers of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has raised concerns about the security of the automated election system (AES) and the capability of the poll body to secure the 2022 national and local elections (NLE).
The report comes at a time when the Comelec is in the thick of preparations for the May 9, 2022 NLE. Not only is the poll body focused on preparing the AES, but it is also preoccupied with Covid-proofing the upcoming elections to ensure that voters are safe from the rampaging Covid-19.
