PRESIDENT Rodrigo Roa Duterte manifested his continued support for basic education in his veto message on the passing of the 2022 national budget. He highlighted the increased funding for the Alternative Learning System (ALS), and the expansion of the use of funds for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE).

In his message, Duterte said he applauds the relentless efforts of the Department of Education (DepEd) in pursuing its mandate in the face of the persisting public health emergency due to Covid-19 by continuing to provide quality education to our learners through the Alternative Learning System Programs.
