THERE were 141 displaced freelancers in Tacurong City who have received P3,300 each as beneficiaries of the Ulong Pangkabuhayan sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE). In return, DoLE-Region 12 ordered the beneficiaries to conduct a 10-day backyard gardening. DoLE-12 implemented the said program in coordination with the city government of Tacurong. According to Tacurong City Mayor Lino Montilla, the program aims to help residents, who have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the beneficiaries in the said program was Joliver Caupe, a visually-impaired massage therapist in the city. Caupe said that their sector, the visually-impaired, is one of the most affected sectors in the pandemic. He said that programs of the government, such as Tupad, greatly help them and their families make ends meet.
