When 'good vibes only' leads to disaster

Michigan State PhD candidate Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) appears to be going about her business of having tea, toast and jam in her laboratory when she discovers a comet.

She quickly informs Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) of her discovery. Mindy goes to a board, and excitedly makes calculations until he discovers this kilometers-wide comet is going to make a direct hit on the planet in six months and 14 days. The end result being an extinction level event for mankind.
