ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal: As people trooped to bus terminals in a mad rush to go home to their rural towns and cities this holiday season, the local city government of Antipolo City announced on Friday that it had opened an alternative bus station for those going to select provinces. Antipolo City Mayor Andrea Ynares said the station, located at the Robinsons Mall, would cater to passengers bound to and from Rawis (Northern Samar) and Leyte in the Visayas and Matnog (Sorsogon), Albay and Masbate in the Bicol Region. She added that the Robinsons Mall terminal complemented the existing ones in Cubao in Quezon and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) in Paranaque City. City spokesman Jun Ynares, former mayor of the city and former governor of the province of Rizal, said the project was still in its trial stage. Meanwhile, the commuter group, Pasada, had appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to stop the operations of the common terminal, PITX. 'It is not commuter friendly. There are not enough facilities for the easy flow of passengers and the commuters, especially those carrying big items,' Pasada founder and President Ricky Rivera said in a statement.
