2 Negros cities send aid

EVEN though they were not spared by the onslaught of Typhoon 'Odette', the spirit of giving in times of calamity still prevailed for the two cities of Negros Occidental as they allocated budget to send as assistance to typhoon hit areas in the fifth and sixth districts of the province. The San Carlos City government has appropriated P2.5 million to aid residents in the sixth district of Negros Occidental. Charlen Pol Bistis-Anlap, administrative officer, said the city government led by San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo will use the amount in purchasing goods to be donated cities of Kabankalan and Sipalay, and municipalities of Ilog, Candoni, Cauayan and Hinoba-an. In Cadiz City, the Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution to give cash assistance to 12 typhoon-hit areas in Negros Occidental. The resolution allocated P100,000 each for Hinigaran, Binalbagan, Himamaylan City, La Castellana, Isabela, Moises Padilla, Candoni, Cauayan, Kabankalan City and Hinoba-an. It was also appropriated P200,000 each for Ilog and Sipalay City. Earlier, the Cadiz City government sent a team from its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to help the search and rescue efforts in Southern Negros.
