FOR all of Super Typhoon "Odette" being a showcase of nature's wrath, the tempest did become an occasion of displaying man's innate concern for his fellow man. And it certainly was admirable for a number of our presidentiables to have right away seen the need to prioritize the sad plight of the typhoon victims. Isko Moreno was reported to have worked for the approval by the Manila city council of a couple million of pesos worth of aid to the devastated areas in the Visayas and Mindanao. Politics aside, this should be a plus sign on his side in his humanitas.

Particularly commendable is Bongbong Marcos. Before the typhoon struck, he had been facing one disqualification suit after another at the Comelec, and yet in these times of tragedy, he rushed to the calamity site pronto and pledged a couple of million pesos worth of assistance to Bohol, and we have no account of how much more aid he gave elsewhere.
