THE National Panel of Technical Experts (NPTE) has identified the Top 10 climate hazards in the Philippines that all require urgent climate action, including salt intrusion in croplands due to rising sea levels, temperature increase and large-scale flooding.
At a recent media briefing hosted by the Department of Finance, NPTE experts identified the top 10 climate risks as: rising sea levels; coastal erosion; flooding; increasing frequency and severity of tropical cyclones; extreme drought; temperature increase and rising urban heat index; extreme rainfall; climate-influenced diseases; wind patterns; and biodiversity loss.
