NOTWITHSTANDING the Ombudsman's memorandum (as practiced in the Supreme Court, Congress and Malacañang/Cabinet) limiting SALN public disclosure and commentaries, three seasoned public officials running for election in 2022 have in the last few weeks called for the disclosure of SALNs as mandated by the Constitution. Wanting to lead by example, Vice President Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo, Sorsogon Gov. Francis "Chiz" Escudero and Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto 3rd appealed for the release of all candidates' SALNs to help Filipinos determine who they should vote for.
While the full 2020 SALNs of Robredo and Escudero may be accessed directly from them, the Senate in an act of transparency, has released their 2019 and 2020 SALN aggregated totals for their Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth. The House of Representatives, however, has made no such move given that its latest published SALNs were sadly from 2018 down to 2016 only.
