MALUNGON, Sarangani Province: Maj. Gen. Ernesto Torres, commander of the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division (ID), said that it is possible to end the country's insurgency problem before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down from office in June 2022.
Torres cited the declining strength of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) in his area of jurisdiction following the series of surrenders, neutralization of the key personalities within the group, and the recovery of several firearms recently.
