Fuel excise tax suspension to harm PH recovery

Amid calls to suspend the excise taxes on fuel, a Finance department official warned that this will be inequitable, lead to significant revenue losses, and threaten the country's economic recovery.

'The unrealized public spending and investments from the foregone revenues will be detrimental to our economic recovery and long-term growth,' Finance Undersecretary and chief economist Gil Beltran said in a statement.
