THE Department of Science and Technology (DoST) is requesting for a bigger budget for research and development (R&D) to maintain the Philippines reputation as "innovation achiever."
For the past 30 years, the government has only allocated 0.14 to 0.18 percent of the gross domestic product for R&D programs, compared to the 2 percent R&D spending recommended by Unesco, according to DoST Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina Guevara.
